Checkmate is a chess game developed and published by Altron Corporation for the Game Boy Color. At the start of the game either Japanese or English can be chosen as the language. Checkmate is a chess game in which there are two main game modes. The first is a tournament mode in which the player plays through a series of opponents one by one, with the ultimate match at the end against a super computer. The other play mode is called open competition. Open competition mode is essentially an exhibition match. The player can choose any of the 16 opponents to play against, including the super computer.
